Debris Tracker is an initiative in citizen science focused on open data, supported by Morgan Stanley. Participants are encouraged to contribute to a thorough evaluation of the plastic pollution issue by utilizing the app to report litter encountered in various locations, ranging from oceans to local environments. The Debris Tracker app is utilized daily by committed educational, non-profit, and scientific entities, along with enthusiastic citizen scientists worldwide, to document GPS data regarding both terrestrial and marine debris.

Thus far, users of the Debris Tracker app have amassed 2 million entries on our open-data platform, managed at the University of Georgia, which facilitates access for researchers and interested individuals globally. By collaboratively collecting and disseminating data, deriving scientific insights, influencing policies, and inspiring proactive measures, we aim to enhance our comprehension of marine debris and plastic pollution.
